The primary concept behind cloud computing is the delivery of extremely scalable IT-related facilities to multiple customers using the Internet.

Customers can choose between different cloud models depending on their own needs. This selection of possible services is also referred to as XaaS. X represents different services such as software, infrastructure, platform, data, etc.

Functionality

Function as a Service is an example of a serverless cloud computing offering in which the provider provides the user with individual functions that are executed and billed to the second. The user does not interact directly with the infrastructure - this is provided and managed by the provider. The user can write the function in such a way that it performs a specific task and returns a result. This is then executed in the environment provided and preconfigured by the provider and thus hides the server complexity from the user.
